Question:
Is there anything to be aware of with smart devices and connecting to WiFi?
Answer:
Many cheaper IoT devices still use the old WiFi technology in them, which you will see referred to as ‘2.4Ghz WiFi’. Because the more modern 5Ghz WiFi is best suited to residential buildings, that is what your main wireless network uses. You can still use the device if it only supports 2.4Ghz, but there is a separate wireless network name at your property to use (with the same personal password). The 2.4Ghz network should only be used by these devices that don’t support 5Ghz. You will get better performance on the main property network name. The network name that supports 2.4Ghz is: z.REG 2.4
